Thomas Vest Lewis, 74, passed away June 5, 2022 at his home. He was born in Cincinnati,OH the son of the late Howard Thomas (H.T.) and Wenona Ruth Proctor Lewis. He was also preceded by his wife Careyon, a son, Ryan and granddaughter Ashleigh New. After graduating he went to electronics school. He was a veteran having served in the Army during Vietnam. Tommy was retired from Owen County Schools as maintenance director and spent many years doing HVAC, electrical and plumbing work. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, was a magistrate for 8 years and in the Jaycees. He helped get the Owen County senior citizens building started. He could play piano. He was in 4-H and as a teenager took over milking until regulations limited him. He received the rotary award in seventh grade and was Owen Countian of the year in 1990. He was a kind hearted man that did many good deeds for people , churches and groups. You never knew what he would say so it was no wonder he couldn't get anybody to believe him when he said he had a monkey on his porch! Surviving are his son Eric (Gayla) Lewis, daughter, Tara Leigh (Rusty) Gaines, sister, Becky (Donald) Duvall and three grandchildren, Audrey and Brandon Lewis and Whitney New. The funeral will be on Wednesday June 8 at 2PM at Seminary St. with visitation starting at 11AM. Burial will follow in the Owenton Cemetery and memorials may be made to Beka's Toppers or the Chase Duvall Scholarship Fund.
