Winnie Marie Stewart

Winnie Marie Stewart, age 83, of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020, surrounded by her family at Gallatin Nursing & Rehab in Warsaw, KY.

Born September 16, 1936, in Grant County, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Peck" and Emma "Elizabeth" Stewart Osborne.  She was also the widow of Elmer Carl Stewart. Winnie was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church where she was an active member, former treasurer and played the piano and organ in her younger years. She began her career in banking at Farmers Bank and retired as head teller from People's Bank after over 30 years of service. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling, locally to the Smoky Mountains and Myrtle Beach and internationally as far as Paris, France.  She had a talent for cooking and enjoyed desserts, but one of her greatest joys was being "Momaw" to her granddaughters and great grandchildren.

Winnie is survived by her children, John (Rhonda) Stewart and Carla (Roger) Combs; her granddaughters, Liz (Willie) Hopkins and Kaylan (Ryan) Vannarsdall and her great grandchildren, Emily Riddle, Bryce Vannarsdall and Levi and Bridgett Hopkins.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday with Tom Olds presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and Memorial Contributions may be made to either Gallatin Nursing & Rehab Activities Fund or the Alzheimers Association.
