William Robert Hazelwood

Mr. William Robert Hazelwood, age 88, of Clayton, North Carolina and formerly of Owen County, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Hospice House in Smithfield, North Carolina. He was born February 24, 1927 to the late Everett and Grace Jones Hazelwood and was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Hazelwood. Mr. Hazlewood was an inspector for Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, OH for 33 years. He was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church, the Glencoe Masonic Lodge and served his country during World War II in the United States Army. While in the Army he was stationed in Okinawa. He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Joann Brock Hazelwood; his daughter Charisse (Vince) Rogers of Clayton, NC; his granddaughters, Lindsey Joann (Jordan) Barbour and Caitlin Suzanne Rogers. Several cousins also survive. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday, March 7th from 11am until 2pm. A Masonic Service will be held at 12:30pm and Funeral Services at 2pm. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery with Bro. Tom Hall officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Grove Cemetery.
