William Greene

William R. “Doc” Greene, DVM, 87, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Owenton Manor. Born March 23, 1921, in Owen County, he was the son of the late R.N. and Gypsy Sidebottom Green and the widower of Lois Jean Greene. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James R. Greene, M.D. and his sister, Betty Lou Greene Knipper. Doc was a retired veterinarian and a farmer for many years in the Lusby’s Mill community. He worked in the Horse Racing and Dog Racing industries in both California and Mexico before returning to Owenton. He was also an Army veteran. He is survived by his Nephews, James R. (Connie) Greene, Jr. of Smyrna, GA; George K. Greene; his niece Rosemary (Jim) Levenson and his sister in law, Mary F. Greene all of Lexington. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Wednesday, February 11th, from 5-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11am. Burial will be in Frankfort Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lusby’s Mill Baptist Church.
