William B. "Bill” Cammack, Lexington, died October 19 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston TX, from complications following surgery for cancer of the esophagus. Born April 7, 1937, in Owenton, he was the son of William L. and Sue Bainbridge Cammack. A graduate of Owen County High School, he earned a bachelor of arts degree graduating cum laude from Transylvania University, and a master of arts degree in economics from the University of Kentucky. Cammack worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY and Lexington for 35 years, claiming to be IBM's oldest living computer programmer. After a two-week retirement, he worked for Perot Systems managing the Perot office in Lexington for 11 years with special assignments in London, England, Seattle, and San Francisco.??In addition to his family, his greatest pleasures were tending the family's farm in Owen County, as well as working in his vegetable garden with his “gardening” partners in Lexington.??Cammack is survived by Anne, his wife of 53 years, a daughter Ellen (Walt) Wisnicky, son Robert (Shannon) Cammack, three grandchildren Matthew and Andrew Wisnicky, and Elise Cammack; and two brothers Marc (Sally) Cammack, Cynthiana, and Andrew Cammack, Frankfort. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at their family farm home at 3075 US Hwy 127N Owenton, KY on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2-4 pm.
