William "Buddy" King

February 22, 1929 — November 3, 2017

William E. "Buddy" King, age 88, of Owenton, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Owenton Center.Born February 22, 1929 in the Cropper community of Shelby County, he was the son of the late George William and Verna Mae Whitaker King.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Melvin, Junie and Bobby King and Elsie Dollar.  Buddy was retired from the Kroger Company as a dock worker and forklift operator.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.  In his younger years, he was known for his talent in breaking horses.  He also worked as a meat cutter with Emgee Meat Factory.Surviving are his daughters, Linda J. Eckert, Roxie A. (Denny) Reed and Patsy M. Hamilton; his sister, Rosie Kemper; grandchildren, Kelly Lester, Donnie Roark, Jimmy Reed, Shelby Tyler and Gage King; great-grandchildren, Jessie, Andrew, Ashley, Ciera, Gabrielle, Amber, Will, Draven and Easton.  He is also survived by a great-great-granddaughter, Carra.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Monday, November 6, 2017, from 11 am until 1 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
