Wendell Ray Morgan, age 81, of Owenton, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Born on March 23, 1945, in Covington, KY, Wendell was the son of Leslie and Naomi Washam Bennett Morgan. He is predeceased by his brothers, Bill, Orville, and Dennis Morgan. Wendell honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A dedicated farmer, he raised tobacco, cattle, hogs, and hay, and contributed his expertise at McDanell Farm Equipment, offering guidance to many. He retired as the Director of Transportation for Owen County School Systems. Wendell cherished raising and riding horses and delighted in sharing the produce from his abundant garden. His deep faith was evident as a devoted member of Richland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Barbara Myers Morgan; his children, Kelly (Carl) Shelton and Chris (Tammy) Morgan; his grandchildren, Rachel Morgan, Logan (Courtlynn) Herring, Cameron and Madelynn Morgan; and his great-grandchildren, Eden Ray and Leviah Morgan.

Family and friends are invited to visitation at Richland Baptist Church on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 11 am to 1 pm. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm, led by Bro. Tom Hall. Wendell will be laid to rest in the Richland Baptist Church Cemetery. Contributions in his memory can be made to the church.
