Wayne Marksberry

Nelson ‘Wayne’ Marksberry, age 69, of Owenton, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at his home. Born October 9, 1941, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Homer Marksberry. Wayne was a retired construction contractor and a member of the Paint Lick Baptist Church in Warsaw. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Giles Marksberry; his mother, Hazel Mitchell Marksberry; four daughters, Kimberly Walls of Piner, Terri (Mike) Crowe of Ft. Mitchell, Melissa Meyers of Villa Hills and Shannon (Mike) Ginn of Owenton; three step-sons, Garrett (Cindy) Giles of Owenton, Jeremy (Kristen) Shields and Joshua (Paula) Shields of Ghent; a brother, Carl Marksberry of Warsaw; two sisters, Sandra O’Connor of Warsaw and Renda Slaughter of Bowling Green. Seven grandchildren also survive. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 4-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the American Cancer Society.
