Wanda Jean Ivey

Wanda Jean Ivey, age 79, of Owenton passed away at her home on January 2, 2024.

Born January 18, 1944, in Martin County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Noah Bowen and Ellen Spaulding Bowen Yelton and was the widow of Howard John Ivey.  The Sister of the late Gertrude Hardy, Dolores Baker, Octavia McQueary and David Bowen.   Wanda was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from the Owen County Memorial Hospital where she was in  housekeeping.  She loved dressing  in bright colors and beautiful accessories that she made herself, to the point she was lovingly  referred to as a “Diva”.  She will be remember for her loving hugs at church, as well as the poems and children’s stories she wrote.

Wanda is survived by her sons, Howard Ivey Jr. and Jeff Ivey,  her niece and caregiver, Linda (Mike) Peters.

New Funeral Homes were in charge of arrangements.  Wanda’s wishes were to be cremated with a private family service at a later date.
