Wallis Lynn Johnson, age 56, of Sparta, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 7, 2018, at her home.
Born September 27, 1961, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Walter Taber and Marge Dykema Taber. She graduated high school in Grand Rapids and continued her education at Michigan State University, graduating with a Horticulture Degree. She worked for a time as a florist and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, after23 years of service, as an air traffic controller. She was a member of Grace Fellowship and an active supporter of their Strong Oaks Academy, where she taught art. Wallis loved animals, enjoyed raising chickens in her retirement, and was a great cook.
She is survived by her husband, who she married on August 8, 1999, Jeffrey C. Johnson; her mother, Marge Dykema Taber; her children CJ and Anya Johnson; her siblings, Bobbe, Tamara, Mary and Kenneth Taber as well as a host of extended family and friends.
McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 10-11 am. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1pm at Grace Fellowship, 9379 Gunpowder Road, Florence, KY 41042. . Memorial Contributions may be made to Owen County Friends of Animals or Grace Fellowship.
