Wallace Irvine “Wally” Whitton, 78, of Cincinnati and formerly of Owenton, died February 1, 2010 at Western Hills retirement Center in Cincinnati. Born November 16, 1931, in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Gratsie and Mary Wright Whitton and the widower of Betty Cobb Whitton. He was also preceded in death by his brother Gratsie Whitton, Jr. and sisters, Jessie and Irene Hammond, Cecil Mastin, Ruby Jones and Elizabeth Harness. Wally was a graduate of Bethany School where he played basketball and baseball. He served his country as a Sergeant in the Marines during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Avon Products where he was a chemical technician. He was also a member of the American Bowling Congress as an avid bowler; a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the New Columbus Methodist Church. Wally is survived by his special friend, Delores Rasenfeld of Delhi, OH and a host of extended family and friends. McDonald & New Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, February 4th from 11am-2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm, with Bro. Jesse Bourne and Bro. Gayliss Gaines officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
