Walker T. Ellis

Walker T. Ellis, 84, of Owenton passed away Thursday, July 1st at the Owenton Manor. He was born February 9, 1926 the son of the late Lee Foster and Lillian Porter Ellis. He was also preceded in death by a son, Roger, a twin brother, Walter and a sister Imojean St. Aubin. Walker T. was an active member of the Owenton Christian Church where he served as deacon and was on the Property Committee. He drove a truck for Kraft Foods, was service manager for McDanell Farm Equipment for over 30 years and then worked for Kindoll & Riley. He was very proud of his service in the Owenton/Owen County Volunteer Fire Dept. and the search and rescue. In 1950 he was one of the founding members and served for over 45 years. He served as Fire Chief for over 15 years and continued to be active after he retired. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force in WW II. Survivors include his wife Yolonda Lucas Ellis whom he married on Sept. 30, 1950, his son Rodney Ellis of Burlington, a daughter-in-law, Toni Ellis and grandson Ethan Lee Ellis of Union. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday July 6th at Owenton First Christian Church. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 at Main Street. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Owenton/OwenCo. Vol. Fire Dept. or Owenton First Christian Church.
