Vivian "Cookie" Carole Malcomb

February 7, 1941 — October 31, 2023

Vivian Carole “Cookie” Malcomb, age 82, of Wheatley, was called home to be with the Lord and her husband of nearly 64 years, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.  Cookie passed peacefully at her home, snuggled in her favorite blanket, and surrounded by her children.

Born February 7, 1941, on her family farm in Wheatley she was the daughter of the late Hubert Thompson and Nannie Ellen Gardner Duvall. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Kenneth Malcomb, in February, her sister, Martha Jane Duvall Perry, and her brother, William R. “Dickie” Duvall. Cookie was a 1959 graduate of Owen County High School and furthered her education at Arkansas School of Business and later received her Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification from JCTC.  Her employment included First Farmers Bank and Carroll County Head Start where many children enjoyed having a teacher’s assistant named “Miss Cookie.”  Above all, her favorite jobs were “Mom” and “Mimi.”

Cookie was a devoted member of Dallasburg Baptist Church where she served in many roles.  She was a Sunday School teacher and served as church museum director for many years where she curated a large collection of church and community history and artifacts.  She had a deep love of music and generously shared her talents as the church organist. She served as the organist for more than 66 years, beginning at age 14, and serving beside her daughter for 30 of those years. Accompanying worship services together, as organist and pianist, was one of their greatest joys. She also blessed many families by playing for weddings and their loved ones' funerals throughout the years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, faithful wife, and adoring Mimi, whose favorite ‘color’ was leopard print.

She will be missed deeply by her children, Steven (Carrie) Malcomb and Crystal (Steve) Raisor; her grandchildren, Noah Edward Malcomb and Ann Marie Malcomb; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Duvall; nieces and nephews, Richard (Marla) Duvall, Regina (Jerry) Cook, Nita (Tim) Burgener, Charla (Steve) Cygan, Ron (Mildred) Malcomb and Greg Malcomb; and many great nieces and nephews.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Dallasburg Baptist Church, in the fellowship hall, on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 4 - 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held, in the church sanctuary, on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Bro. Michael David and Bro. Rick Roberts presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Dallasburg Baptist Church.
