Virginia Ruth Lewis Davis, age 85, of New Liberty passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Gallatin Healthcare in Warsaw. Born May 20, 1931 in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Ruth Thomas Lewis and the sister to the late H.T. Lewis and Bill Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Billy Bates Davis, six days prior to her passing. Virginia was know as 'Chub' to family and friends, a moniker given by her brother H.T. She graduated from New Liberty High School in 1949, She worked for two years in the Division of Records at the Kentucky State Highway Department. On March 21, 1951, Billy and Virginia were engaged and a few days later she joined New Liberty Baptist Church. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, spouse, housewife, farmer and member of the New Liberty Volunteer Fire Department where she served as radio dispatcher for years. Virginia is survived by her sons, William Steven (Carol) Davis of Lexington, and James Gregory (Dawn) Davis of New Liberty as well as her three grandchildren, Ryan (Jill) Davis, Kristen Davis and Kelsey Davis. Also surviving are her sister Sue Stewart of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 12pm until 3pm. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Bro. David "Milkweed' Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Gallatin Healthcare, Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church or New Liberty Volunteer Fire Department.
