Virgil Scott Mcalister

Virgil Scott McAlister, age 60, of Owenton, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.

Born November 15, 1961, in Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Cecil and Ann Jones McAlister. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy McAlister. Virgil retired from Itron as a Production Manager and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Virgil enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching U of L Basketball and NASCAR. More than anything, Virgil loved being with his family and being Papaw to his grandchildren.

Virgil will be missed by his wife, Pam Smith McAlister; his daughters, Lauren (Justin) Kremer and Taylor McAlister; grandchildren, Cole and Lydia Kremer; his siblings, Paul McAlister, Anita (Darrell) Arnold, Sandra McAlister, Melinda (Tim) Sharp, and Cassie McAlister; his mother-in-law, Ruth Smith; and his brothers-in-law, Rodney (Brenda) Smith and Darryl (Judy) Smith.  He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Friday, July 8, 200 from 11 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Dale Adkins presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
