Vira Belle Howard

Vira Belle Howard, age 90, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born August 15, 1930, in the Wheatley community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl Clifton Popp. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, R.W. Popp, Coleman Popp, and Helen Bell. Vira Belle was a homemaker and a member of the Squiresville Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and reading and fishing at Elmer Davis Lake when she was able.

She is survived by her husband of over 65 years, James Howard; her children, Dennis (Tammy) Howard, Carla Stewart, Calvin (Becky) Howard, and Sherri (John) Godfrey; her step-grandchild, Nicki Huffman and four step-great-grandchildren.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 4 - 8 pm. This will be a pass-through visitation with social distancing and masks required. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday with Bro. Craig Howard presiding. Please meet at the funeral home at 12:45 pm to go in procession to the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Squiresville Baptist Church or Bluegrass Care Navigators.
