Vernon Smith Prather, Jr.

Vernon Smith Prather, Jr. age 71, of Worthville passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Signature Healthcare of Carrollton. Born April 13, 1944 in Orlando, FL he was the son of the late Vernon Smith Prather, Sr. and was preceded in death by his step son Mike Tingle. Vernon was a retired school teacher, having taught drivers education at Owen County High School where he was also an assistant baseball coach. He was also a truck driver, farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Poe Prather; his mother, Ina Riddle Prather; his daughters, Sandy (Dan) Logan and Laurie D. (Gayle Lee) Stivers; his step daughter Cristal Harney; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 5-7pm. A memorial service will follow at 7pm with Bro. Pat Butcher officiating.
