Verna Lee Chapman

Verna Lee Chapman, age 82, of Matthews, NC and formerly of Florence, KY passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Matthews, NC. Born December 15, 1932, in McRoss, WV, Verna was the daughter of the late Edward Lester and Lucille Heaster Hughart. She was preceded in death by her sister Laurel Hugart. She was a retired Middletown City Clerk of Courts and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Middletown, OH. Mrs. Chapman was a talented crafter and enjoyed playing the piano and reading. Surviving are her husband Keith, her children, Debbie (Mark ) McMillen, Cindy (Tom) Kreis and Chris (Julie) Chapman; grandchildren, Ashley (Ben) Richardson, Lindsay (Adam) Stafford, Brandon Kreis, Kara Chapman, Corey (Lindsey) Chapman, Emily Kupisch and Grant McMillen; great grandchildren, Liza and Donovan Richardson, Katelyn and Sophia Kupisch and Norah Chapman. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Wednesday, May 6th from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday with Bro. Brad Banks presiding. Burial will follow in the Owenton Cemetery.
