Anthony “Tony” Wayne Curtis, 57 of Owenton, KY, passed peacefully at home on April 19, 2025, after a long hard fight against cancer.
Born on September 27, 1967, in Georgetown, KY, he was the son of the late John W. Curtis and Thelma M. Gillespie Curtis. Along with his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Jeremy (JD) Curtis.
Tony worked as a self employed carpenter for many years, and some would say he knew everything there was to know about that line of work. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do. Along with carpentry work, Tony loved to farm. He found peace being on an old tractor.
Tony volunteered as a Little League football coach for over 20 years. He loved teaching children the game he loved, and his passion for it was unmatched. Even years later, kids from his teams and their parents wouldn’t call Tony by his name, they addressed him as “Coach”. The impact he had on all of them and the wisdom he instilled in them will last a lifetime.
He had several hobbies, along with coaching, that he enjoyed. Fishing, riding four-wheelers, and spending time with family to name a few. He was a big family man, and there wasn’t anything in this world that he loved more. Daily phone calls to his kids for no reason other than just to hear their voices. And his grandkids were his pride and joy. To say he had his grandkids spoiled is an understatement. They knew Papaw would always say yes.
Tony never believed in using the word “perfect”. However, if you were to ask his family, they would say he was perfect in their eyes. He always knew how to make things better, whether he was fixing something or just sharing advice- he always had an answer for everything.
Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 38 years, Georgia Curtis. His children: Dustin (Angie) Curtis, Mindy (Anthony) Sons, Michael Warren, and Cory Warren. His grandchildren: Landon, Rylie, Corbin, Grayson, Jacob, and Cooper Wayne. His brother, Micah (Tiffany) Curtis. His sisters, Melissa Curtis and Kim Curtis. And a host of extended family and friends.
Tony was a warrior. He fought up until he took his last breath. His strength and willpower is and will forever be admired by many.
