Thomas L. McDonald, age 76, passed away Saturday, July 14th, at his home. Born April 1936, He was the son of the late Vernon and Christine Luther McDonald. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Charles McDonald. Tommy began his funeral career with the former Kemper and Arnold Funeral Home which later became Owen Funeral Service. In 1985 he purchased both funeral homes and changed the name to McDonald Funeral Homes. He was a veteran having served his country in the United States Army. Tommy was also a member of the Owenton Masonic Lodge #123 and The Emmanuel Lodge #213 also of Owenton. He is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Traylor McDonald of Owenton; one son: Mike McDonald (wife Tammy) of Owenton; one daughter: Kelli Stephens (husband-Dewey) of Waxhaw, North Carolina; one brother: Vernon Eugene "Rastus" McDonald (wife-Audrey) of Monterey; one sister: Brenda Brown of Cincinnati; one grandson: Zachary McDonald of Owenton and two grand daughters: Chloe and Sophie Stephens both of Waxhaw, North Carolina; and two step-grandchildren: Dillon and Elizabeth Lusby of Owenton. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 17th, from 4 until 8pm at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 18th and will begin at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owenton First Baptist Church Kitchen Renovation Fund or the Hospice of the Bluegrass.
