Theodore "Big Ted" Nuby, age 81, of Owenton passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
Theodore Nuby was born in Owen County to Eliza Nuby Watson and Roosevelt Nuby on November 9, 1939. He worked at the Golden Casting Corporation in Columbus, IN for 35 years.
After retirement, he moved back to his hometown and met the love of his life, Stella Mae Branom. Theodore and Stella fell head over heels for one another and married on May 10, 2009. Theodore attended church at Second Baptist Church in Owenton, KY, under the leadership of Reverend Chris Hagan. He was a dedicated member and looked forward to Sunday morning worship.
Theodore was also looked upon as a leader and friend to all of his co-workers at the Golden Casting Corporation. On July 5, 1994 he was presented with a safety award for saving a co-worker’s life. A truck driver was unloading sand at the North end of the plant. As the driver was checking the unloading process, the tailgate opened, and the sand began burying the driver. Theodore saw him and quickly sprung to action pulling the driver free. This was just one example, among many, that demonstrated the kind of man Theodore was.
He was a very hardworking man. Even after retirement, he would always keep busy with odd jobs. He enjoyed taking rides with his dog Queenie and visiting his neighbors. He was very charming and had a captivating personality. His laugh was contagious, and he never met a stranger. Theodore was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, confidante, and close friend who was loved by many!
Theodore is preceded in death by his parents, Eliza Nuby Watson and Roosevelt Nuby, his brother’s, Phillip Nuby, Ollie Nuby, Howard Jackson, and his great-grandson Tyshawn Nuby Jr, and great-granddaughter Jalea C Wilson-Fairconnetue.
Survivors include his wife Stella Nuby, his daughter, Shannon Nuby, his brother Bobby Watson, his grandchildren Tremain Wilson and Tyshawn Nuby Sr, his great-grandchildren Tyrell Nuby, Serenity Wilson-Fairconnetue, Jasmine Wilson, and Amari Wilson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and close family and friends.
