Thelma Jean Jones, age 85, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, in Campbellsburg, KY. Born on December 5, 1938, in Owen County, Thelma was the last of nine beloved children of the late Grover Cleveland and Cora Rice Booth.
Thelma was a devoted member of Sanders Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She was known for her strong work ethic, having worked at Kawneer, The Sanders Nursing Home, and even driving a cab for a couple of years. No matter the job, Thelma approached her work with dedication and pride.
She had a love for life that was evident in everything she did. Thelma enjoyed dancing and found great joy in the company of her family and friends. She loved playing cards, a pastime that often brought loved ones together around the table. Thelma also had a passion for yard work and took special pride in growing beautiful flowers, creating a vibrant and welcoming environment around her home.
She is survived by her loving children, Kenny Gordy, Pam Fornash, Billie Jean (Jeff) Pyles, and Mike Jones; her beloved grandchildren, April Proctor, Jonathan Gordy, Eric Gordy, Shaina Fornash, Casey Fornash, Deanna (Zac) Clark, Codie (Chelsea) Pyles, Autumn Pyles, Bryce Jones, and Brady Jones; twenty great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who loved her so much. Thelma was preceded in death by her siblings, Ethal Booth, Emmett Booth, Winford "Brownie" Booth, Florence Terrell, Grover "Tommy" Booth, Willard "Baldy" Booth, Wilma Baldwin, and Ruth Booth.
New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 11 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Owen County Friends of Animals.
