Thelma Mae Gillispie Curtis, age 67, of Stamping Ground, passed away Saturday, November 6th at her residence. Born September 25, 1943, in Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Mae Hammons Gillispie and was preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine Jones, Mona Gillispie and Dorothy Jones; two brothers, Russell and Dan Gillispie; one brother in law Clay Jones, three nephews, Alvin and Ronald Jones and Wayne Gillispie. Mrs. Curtis was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, John Curtis; three sons, Tony (Georgis) Curtis of Owenton, J.D. Curtis and Micah (Amanda) Curtis of Stamping Ground; two daughters, Kim and Missy Curtis of Stamping Ground; 8 grandchildren, Dustin and Mindy Curtis, Michael and Cory Warren, Justin Cook, Kelly Mae Lynn Curtis, Lane and Cody Curtis; two great grandchildren, Landon Smith and Rylie Curtis; one sister, Rose (Joe) Griffin of Georgetown; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, November 12th from 9-11am. Funeral services will follow at 11am with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. Burial will be in the Beardsley Cemetery in Sadieville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Curtis Family in care of the funeral home.
