Firefighter, Terry Lynn Sharon, 60, of Monterey died Sunday, September 13, 2009, in the line of duty. Born January 22, 1949, in Covington, he was the son of the late Leslie B. and Jean Sharon. He was preceded in death by uncles, Roy, Pete and Orville Sharon. Terry was a devoted member of the Monterey Volunteer Fire Department and a Sergeant in the Army in Viet Nam. He is survived by his girlfriend, Brenda Bright of Frankfort; his half brother, David Sharon of St. Petersburg, FL; cousins, Mark and Andy Rollins, Larry and Dennis Sharon and Sterling Ellis; Aunt, Margaret Rollins; Uncle, Raymond Sharon and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be the Monterey Volunteer Fire Department. Honorary bearers will be David Sharon and Mark Rollins. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes where family will receive friends at the Owen County High School gymnasium on Saturday, September 19, 2009, from 11am-2pm. Full Honor, Firefighter Line of Duty Death, Funeral services will follow at 2pm Saturday. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the funeral expenses.
