Teresa Marie Risch, age 66, of Owenton, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born January 5, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Linville "Pete" Clay Baker and Sarah Loretta Thacker Baker. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughters, Zoe Marie Hodges and Mattie Rae Hodges, and her siblings, Linville Baker, Linda Hall, and Ricky Baker.
She was a 1974 graduate of Holmes High School, attended nursing school for a time, and eventually retired from Owen County Schools. She had an over thirty-year career with the schools, beginning as a primary school teacher's aid and quickly moving to the role she loved, feeding students in middle school and high school. Teresa loved to cook and feed her family and others, She took great pride in her garden, kitchen, and homemade food, never cut corners or even used the microwave. After her retirement, she went on to work for UMC Food Ministries where she continued to feed people throughout the pandemic.
She and her husband owned and operated Risch's Gun and Archery and Risch's Deer Processing for many years. Together they took in and fostered hundreds of children over 18 years. There were always extra kids in her home, some related, and she made sure they were all loved and cared for. Teresa was a simple, private, humble woman, who took care of everyone. She enjoyed traveling, attending festivals, collecting chickens, roosters, and crocks. She was also a penny collector, filling dozen of containers and designating them for each child. Her family is sure she bears some responsibility for the coin shortage of late. Among her biggest blessings was being "Mamaw" to her many grandchildren.
Teresa was loved and will be missed by her husband of over 47 years, Robert Risch; her children, Robert "Bobby" Lee Risch, II, Tamara Dawn (Tim) Morris, Scott Matthew (Heather) Risch; Sarah Marie Hodges; Russell Dale Carrington-Risch, Brooklynn Kaylee Hamilton-Risch, and Keith Allen Hamilton-Risch; her grandchildren, Robert Lee Risch, III, Timmy Lee Morris, II, Brooklyn Dawn Morris, Isabella Grace Morris, Adon Layne Morris, Neal Matthew Morris, Xavier Jayce Morris, Hallie Morgan Risch, Makenzie Lauren Risch, Lacie Claire Risch, and Jazmyne Quinn Hodges; her great-grandchild, Paisley Ray Morris; her siblings, Gary Baker, Sharon Schulkers, Donna Baker, and Ciera Holcher; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
