Susan Mary Perkins

Owenton - Susan Mary Perkins, 88 of Owenton and the widow of Fred Perkins passed away Tuesday, July 27th, 2010. Mrs. Perkins had been living with her daughter and grandson in Frankfort for the past 5 years. As she battled several serious illnesses she was an inspiration to everyone who met with her gentle spirit and sweet smile. During her time in Frankfort, Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center. She made new friends and had many new experiences which she enjoyed very much. Prior to moving to Frankfort, Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Lusby’s Mill Baptist Church. In earlier years, she and her husband owned Perkins General Store in Zion Station. She was born in Grant County, the daughter of the late John and Nancy Howard Duncan and was preceded in death by her siblings, Nellie Hawkins and Raymond Duncan. Mrs. Perkins is survived by her two children, Winfred (Fern) Perkins of Dry Ridge and Brenda Perkins of Frankfort; Two grandchildren, Kim (Rob) Preece of Huntington, WV and Matthew Woodyard of Frankfort; two great grandchildren, Aaron and Austin Preece and three sisters, Lena Hunter, Mattie Kincaid and Letha Young all of Owen County. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, July 30th from 11am to 1pm. Funeral Services will follow at 1pm with Bro. Brad Hockensmith officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery in Zion Station. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Franklin County Senior Citizens, 202 Medical Heights Drive, Frankfort, KY 40601-6521
