Stella Mae Branom Nuby

August 15, 1935 — March 3, 2024

Stella Mae Branom Nuby, age 88, of Louisville, and formerly of Owenton, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Baptist Health in Louisville, Kentucky.

Born August 15, 1935, in Eminence, KY, she was the daughter of the late Will Moore & Cora B. Kephart Moore.  Stella was the widow of Theodore “Big Ted” Nuby and was also preceded in death by her sisters Letha Davis and Naomi Wilson and her niece Debra Davis.

Stella received her High School Diploma from Owen County Public School on May 10, 1954. She worked various factory jobs, but even after retirement she never stopped earning her money. She ironed, did laundry, and had her own private business selling baked goods, jewelry, and her handmade crochet hats, blankets, and scarves. She was a fashionista who never failed to dazzle the crowd and always made sure she matched from her fabulous hats, and her bedazzled jewelry, down to her shiny shoes, not to mention her furry furs. In addition to her love of crochet and making jewelry, she also enjoyed gardening and you would find her watering her plants on a regular basis. Stella was a fun-loving, energetic, and very outspoken woman. She always voiced what was on her mind and would let you know exactly what she wanted and how it was going to be. She was also a lover of music and enjoyed singing along to the oldies but goodies while she cut up the dance floor.  She married the love of her life, Big Ted, on May 11, 2009, and her true love story began. She was a true believer of God and joined Second Baptist Church, Owenton, KY at an early age and faithfully served the lord and her church. Stella will always be remembered for her quick comebacks and smart remarks, but most of all for the laughter and love she shared with everyone. She was loved by many and her spirit will remain in our hearts forever!

Stella leaves to mourn her passing her Sisters Elizabeth Harris and Addie Bell Moore, her beloved daughter and caregiver, Shannon Nuby; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth F Tinker, William B Davis, Naomi C Thompson, Charles D. Davis, John W Foree, Jr., Michael R Foree, Cathy A Foree-Anderson, Jackie Booker, Teresa Harris-Sizemore, Naomi Harris-Lowery, James E. Harris; and a host of other great nieces and nephews, close family as well as friends.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Second Baptist Church, Owenton.  Friends may call after 11 am Saturday at the church.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery with Rev. Christopher Leon Hagan presiding.
