Starr Payton Allender Deatherage

**BECAUSE OF THE WATER SITUATION, THE LOCATION HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE MONTEREY BAPTIST CHURCH Starr Payton Theresa Allender Deatherage, age 71 of Owenton, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at the University of KY Chandler Medical Center. Born September 19, 1942 in Covington, she was the daughter of the late George Allender and Clara Johnette Heckler Castleman. She was also preceded in death by her brother George Allender. Starr was a homemaker and had worked at Dairy Queen for several years. She was dedicated to her family and loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She loved shopping with her family and attending yard sales, dancing and spending time on her porch. She was also loved growing beautiful roses and sunflowers. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Doug Deatherage; her sons, Jeff Sims of Daytona, FL, Bret Sims of Liberty Township, OH and Blaine Sims of Independence; two daughters, Pamela Breving of Cincinnati, OH and April Boswell of Florence; her sister, Crystal Kathman of Florence; her twelve grandchildren, Kristen, Casey, Caleb, Kelley, Brittany, Autumn, Jacob, Tayland, Austin, Hope, Payton and Evan; two great grandchildren, Kaliah and Whitney and her beloved dog, Mugsby. McDonald &New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the MONTEREY BAPTIST CHURCH on Saturday, January 11th from 11am until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
