Sonya Hamilton

On the morning of November 23, 2022, Sonya Hamilton of Owenton, Kentucky died at the age of 52.

Sonya was born, October 4, 1970, in Carrollton, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Aldean Spaulding Hamilton and Dallas Hamilton, who survives.

In 2012 she opened Grandmother Oak Sanctuary, which was an Open-Faith gathering place, which was also a safe haven for AA attendees. Sonya was a practitioner of Reiki, divination, and enjoyed being outdoors, until she was too sick to do so. After becoming ill, she spent many hours of her day playing games such as No Man's Sky, or watching Star Trek with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, arts, crafts, and bonfires.

Sonya is survived by her father, Dallas Hamilton, two children Kalib Hamilton, and Raven Hamilton-Kent, son-in-law Joseph Kent, and two Grandchildren Lillian Hamilton and Michael Kent. She also has a surviving brother, Clay Hamilton, his wife Sherry Hamilton, and their Children Brice Hamilton and Evan Hamilton.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Private family services will be held.
