Silas Vester Prather

Silas Vester Prather, Sr. age 84, of Owenton, passed away September 29, 2015 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital. Born July 24, 1931 in Owen County, he was the son of the late Amos and Eartha Perkins Prather. Silas was a member of the Elk Lick Baptist Church and was lifelong farmer and mechanic. Surviving are his wife, Ethel Hannah Prather; his son, Silas 'Vester' (Hope) Prather, Jr.; his daughters, Eartha Moore and Judy Riley; his stepson, Charles Hopkins; sisters, Clara Kelly and Jan Riddle; brother, Revel Prather; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held in the Monterey Cemetery on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11am. A memorial service and time of fellowship will follow the graveside at Elk Lick Baptist Church at 12:30. Memorial contributions may be made to McDonald & New Funeral Homes.
