Shirlene French died Monday evening, October 13 at her home in Warsaw. She was 72 years old and a life-long resident of Gallatin County. She was the daughter of the late John Frank and Mary Elizabeth Caldwell Alexander. She was the widow of former Circuit Court Clerk and Gallatin Sheriff, Charles “Chick” French. Together they owned and operated Moon River Restaurant and the Brown Hotel in the 60’s. She later was employed by Square D Corporation, from which she retired. She was a member of the Paint Lick Baptist Church and is known for her kindness and generosity. Shirlene was also preceded in death by two Brothers; John Everett Alexander and Clyde Alexander, Also a sister; Dorothy Davis. She is survived by her five children: Denny (Shirley) French, Kenny (Terri) French, Randy (Sharri) French, Gena (Jeff) Noell and Charles E. French, all of Warsaw. 13 grandchildren; Kaycee Thompson (Brian), Kyle French (Kristina), Kendall French, Erin Giles, Courtney French, Alex French, Rebecca French, Hannah French, Ashley Taylor (Donald), Ethan Noell, Cody Noell, Jake French, Samantha French, 5 grreat-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, October16, from 4-8pm at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home in Warsaw. The funeral will be held Friday, October 17, at 11:00am at the Paint Lick Baptist Church, Visitation will begin at 10:00am at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Paint Lick Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Paint Lick Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Pallbearers: Jerry Alexander, Jake French, Kendall French, Kyle French, Cody Noell, Ethan Noell, Donald Taylor and Brian Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers: Wayne Caldwell, Bobby Groves, Gary Groves, Allen Sampson, Sam Sanders and Bernard Walsh.
