Shannon Leigh Vaughn Alvores

Shannon Leigh Vaughn Alvores, age 46, of Owenton and formerly of Richmond passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Owenton Center. Born February 2, 1969, in Owenton she was a graduate of Grant County High School and was raised in Corinth. She was a former contract coordinator for D.W. Wilburn in Lexington and was a member of the Corinth Christian Church then later Eastside Baptist Church in Richmond. Shannon possessed a beautiful talent for art and enjoyed DIY projects and her family. Shannon was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lucille Lucas Rogers and Carl Eugene Rogers and her paternal grandfather Gilbert Vaughn. Surviving are her parents, Brenda Rogers Vaughn of Owenton and Dennis Vaughn of Milton, Fl; her son Kyle (Karriane Martin) Adams of Covington; her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Vaughn of Pensacola,Fl; her husband Torriano Alvores. She also leaves behind a host of extended family, friends and caregivers. McDonald & New Funeral homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday, August 29th from 10:30am until 12:30pm. Funeral services will follow at 12:30pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
