Sarah Florence McCormick

Sarah Florence McCormick, aged 91, of Owenton, passed away peacefully at her son's home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Born on October 25, 1934, in Owen County, Sarah was the daughter of the late Velmar Renfro. She was preceded in death by her son, Eric McCormick. Raised in a large family of siblings, she married the late Roy McCormick, with whom she shared a fulfilling life on their farm. Together, they nurtured the land, cultivating tobacco and tending to cows, pigs, chickens, and a thriving garden.

Sarah Florence was the oldest living member of Elk Lick Baptist Church for more than 75 years. Her family will affectionately remember that even though she didn't drive, she was never home.

She is survived by her children, Barry McCormick and Suzanne McCormick; her six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11 am, with visitation starting at 10 am. She will be laid to rest in Monterey Cemetery, officiated by Bro. John Thomas.
