Sandra Katherine Cooke

Sandra Katherine Cooke, age 73, of Gratz, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. She was born on August 21, 1951, in Owenton, Kentucky, to the late Marvin and Henrietta Furnish Hammonds.

Sandra led a life of devotion and service, most notably through her work as a nurse. She dedicated many years to caring for others at various facilities, including Owen County Memorial Hospital, Owenton Manor, and even traveled extensively as a committed travel nurse. Her compassion and dedication touched countless lives.

Three loving husbands preceded her in death: Larry Wayne Tindle, Wardie Palmer, and Johnny Cooke. Despite her personal losses, Sandra remained a beacon of strength for her family and community.

Outside of her nursing career, Sandra enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—fishing, reading, and the thrill of riding motorcycles. She had a deep passion for Native American and tribal culture, which she explored and embraced wholeheartedly. Sandra also had a tender heart for animals, and they were always an important part of her life.

Sandra will be missed by her children, Chris Tindle and Helena Tindle Rollison; her grandchildren, Heaven Leigh (Matthew) Watts, and Cainaan Able (Mackenna) Tindle; great-grandchildren, Vivian Greer, Riley Rose, and Emma Watts; brother, Garrett (Annie) Hammonds; and nieces and nephew, Kathy, Sherry, and Garrett Jr.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with burial in Mt. Minish Cemetery.
