R.W. “Dub” Juett, 82, of Owenton, a longtime dairy and tobacco farmer, died January 21, 2010 at the New Horizons Medical Center in Owenton. Dub was the son of the late James and Lula Grisham Juett of New, KY and was born on May 7, 1927. He graduated high school in May of 1946 and the following month married the love of his life, Dorothy Rose on June 7. Dub and Dorothy had two sons, Mark and Kim, before purchasing a farm on Sparta Rd in Long Ridge in 1960 that would eventually become Mark Kimberly Farms. Prior to purchasing the farm, Dub served in the Armed Forces as a Merchant Marine during WWII, owned an oil business, a grocery store and worked for a short period of time as a state official. Dub was a proud member of the Owenton First Baptist Church, a Free Mason and a Kentucky Colonel. He also served on various boards and organized groups in his community, including the Owen County Fair Board, Local Farmer’s Organization, and Holstein Cattle Club Board of Directors and was one of the founders and first President of the Owen County Sportsman’s Club. Dub was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Beulah Roland, Sybil, Bill, John, Tim and Dorothy Juett. Survivors include by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Mark (Marcha) of Smithville, MO and Kim of Owenton; five grandchildren, Miranda (Chris) Warren, Kalem (Mona) Juett, Meredith (Brandon) Gutshall, Morgan (Jamie) Bond and Joshua Juett; and four great grandchildren, Burke, Campbell, Deacon and Cameron. McDonald & New Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Sunday, January 24th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 11am, with Bro. Jesse Bourne, Bro. Brad Banks and Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church – Family Life Center.
