Ruth Ann Smith

Ruth Ann Smith, age 83, of Owenton, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Gallatin Nursing and Rehab in Warsaw, Kentucky.

Born December 7, 1940, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Bryant and Viola Keith Osborne.  She was the widow of Clarence Sidney Smith and preceded in death by her son, Darryl Smith; siblings, Bobby Osborne, Betty Miller, and Joyce Snow; and her son-in-law, Virgil McAlister. For many years she was the bookkeeper and accountant for Clarence Smith Trucking.  Ruth was a longtime member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and enjoyed watching services on TV, and listening to Christian music.  Among her favorite things were checking out CDs from the library, playing cards, and sitting on her front porch.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her children, Pam McAlister and Rodney (Brenda) Smith; her grandchildren, Jennifer Stewart, Matt Hubbard, Derek Smith, Lauren Kremer, Taylor McAlister, Bradley Smith, Brandon Smith, Amanda House, and Amanda Mason; twenty great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Judy Smith and her caregiver for last five years, Doris Kincaid.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier and Bro. Dale Adkins presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church
