Ruth Estes

Ruth Estes, age 96, of Owenton, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the Owenton Manor.

Born November 19, 1925, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Nettie Thompson Corman and the widow of Rev. J.L. Estes.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Flossie Lathrem, Clarence Corman, Charlie B. Corman, a grandchild, and one great-grandchild. Ruth loved the Lord and attending church at Lockport Baptist Church. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed eating out. Among her favorite places were the Pool Hall and KY Fried Chicken.  She would spend hours on grocery trips visiting with those she encountered at the store. Her stay at the Manor was made easier by her cell phone, many times calling family before they even made it home from their visit with her. She was an avid country music fan, who enjoyed listening to George Jones and Alan Jackson.

She will be missed by her children, Phyllis (Jack) McKenzie, Larry (Diana) Estes, and Carol Simmons; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 10 am until 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Bro Paul Briscoe presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Lockport Baptist Church.
