Ruth Cook

Ruth Abbott Cook, age 94, of Anderson County, formerly of Mussel Shoals Community, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at her home.

She was born July 1, 1927 in Owenton, Kentucky to the late Buell D. Roberta Wright Abbott. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Franklin "Frank", her siblings; Viola Francis Cook, Dorothy Ellen King, Lola Pearl Abbott and Betty Sue Race. Ruth was a House wife who also worked for Wheelers Restaurant in Dry Ridge, KY. She loved her church and family. She loved to travel to North Carolina to visit with her sister and other family. Ruth had a hand for gardening, could can and cook like no other. Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidery, especially making quilts.She was a member of Mussel Shoals Baptist Church.

Ruth will be missed by children; Mary Susan Tomlin, Laura Spillman, Greg (Bonnie) Race; her siblings, Franklin D. Abbott, Kathryn Mae Dews, Linda Lou Fletcher; her grandchildren, Billy Tomlin, Lisa (Bo) McDaniel, Brittany Race, Ryan Race, Brandon Race; her great grandchildren, Leah, Sammarah, Draven, Ashlee, Marley, Beckham, Kasan, Ronin.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends and family at the Main Street location on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 4PM to 8Pm. On Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 2PM we will have a funeral service a tour Main Street Location with Bro. Curtis Norris presiding. Burial to follow at the New Columbus Cemetery.
