Ruth J. Clifton

Ruth J. Clifton, age 88, of Owenton passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. Born August 21, 1926 in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Minnie Seay Johnson. She was the widow of David Clifton and Dave Clifton and was preceded in death by her sisters, Nettie Gibson and Virgie Howard and her brother, Roy Johnson. Ruth was a homemaker and a devoted volunteer at the Owen County Clothing center, since its inception in 1986. She was a member of the New Liberty Christian Church. She is survived by her son, David B. (Kim) Clifton of Owenton; her daughters, Joan (Lynn) Smith of Campbellsville and Alice Faye Webster of Owenton; four grandchildren, James (Heather) Smith of Bardstown, Tim (Nannie) Webster of Owenton, Kristie Smith of Arizona and Lori (David) Loury of Texas and four great grandchildren, Joshua and Jeneva Smith, Alexis and Gene Loury. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, October 10th rom 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday with Bro. Jim Wood officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Liberty Christian Church.
