Ruby "Sug" Mcdanell

Owenton – Ruby “Sug” McDanell, 71, of Owenton, passed away Friday July 3rd at the home of her daughter. Born August 31, 1937, in Oldham County, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Lorraine Coons Yochum and was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Bill” McDanell. Sug was a graduate of Oldham County High School; retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the Labor Cabinet and was a member of the Owenton First Methodist Church where she was a pianist for many years. She is survived by her four daughters, Margo Doty of LaGrange, Lisa Smither of Warsaw, Shelia Smith and Peggy Trinkle both of Owenton; one son, Billy Don McDanell of Owenton; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location, Tuesday, July 7th, from 11 -3pm. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Bro. Jesse Bourne presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Owenton First Methodist Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
