Ruben Lewis

Ruben Jr. Lewis, 82 of Sparta passed away Wednesday morning at the Gallatin Healthcare facility. Born August 14, 1926 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Ruben and Ethel Jackson Lewis and was preceded in death by his siblings, Martha Jane Lehman, and Jesse, Charles and Marvin Lewis. Ruben was a farmer, a truck driver and a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church. He was also a WWII Army Veteran. Ruben is survived by his wife whom he married on December 21, 1946, Addie Ruth Stewart Lewis; his son, Harold Lewis of Carroll County; his daughter Marlyn Lewis Godby of Midway; his brother, William Lewis of Dayton, OH; his sister Ruby Dean of Williamstown; four grandchildren, Cindy Hedges, Pamela Lewis and Rodney and Bobby Joe Godby; and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Rodney and Billy Joe and Jamee Godby, Brian Hedges and Tom and J.T. Olds Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes where family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, October 3, 2008 from 4pm until 8pm. Funeral services will be held 2pm Saturday, at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery with Bro. Jesse Bourne officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Jonesville United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
