Roy Lawson Stafford

Roy Lawson Stafford, age 67 of Wheatley, passed away, Friday, March 18, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Owenton. Born, January 6, 1949, Roy was the son of the late James Rees and Omega "Faye" Dickerson Stafford. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Carrollton and retired from Kemper Brother Trucking with over twenty years of service. He loved being outdoors, fishing and farming. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Surviving are his wife, whom he married on Christmas Day in 1969, Betty Nicholson Stafford; his sons, Roy (Annie) Stafford and Ricky Stafford; his siblings, Jean Rees Gilliam and Timmy Stafford; his grandsons, Ty Andrew Stafford and Jacob Lane Stafford; his uncle Jerry Stafford; his brother in law, Gary (Fran) Nicholson and his sister in law, Marilyn M. Nicholson. Pallbearers will be Gary Nicholson, Ty Stafford, Timmy Stafford, Charles Kemper, Chris Kemper, Tom Butcher, Jackie Bartram and Wayne Sullivan. Serving as honorary bearer will be Jerry Stafford. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Family Worship Center of Carrollton on Tuesday, March 22 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday at the church with Bro. Pat Butcher officiating. Burial will be in the Wheatley masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Kosair Children's Hospital.
