Roy Prather, Jr.

Mr. Roy Prather, Jr., age 77 of Owenton passed away on November 15, 2012 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. Born June 16, 1935, in the Hesler community of Owen County, he was the son of the late Roy and Lula Mae Gaines Prather and the widower of Freda Cook Prather. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Ruby Wainscott, Kirtley, Wilton, Gayle and Willard Prather as well as two infant sisters. Roy was a long time mechanic for Chevron in Frankfort. After retiring he worked for NAPA and KY Motors. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Roy was a devout family man and always found ways to use his 'handyman' skills for the betterment of others. Surviving are his children, David (Heather) Prather of Perryville and Nancy (Michael) Boisseau of Owenton; his special friend Wanda Moreland; his grandchildren, Joseph, Megan, Ava and Eli and a host of nieces and nephews. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Sunday from 1-5pm. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday with Bro. Dale Adkins presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society - Owen County Relay for Life. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
