Robert Thomas Walker

Robert Thomas Walker, 84, of Owenton, KY passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at his home. Bobby was born on February 14, 1933 in Owenton, to the late Wellington and Frances Epler Walker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wellington Epler Walker. He graduated from Owen County High School in 1952 and the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 1957. On June 16, 1956, he married the love of his life, Shirley Powell Walker and they enjoyed over 60 years together. Being a pharmacist was a true calling for Bobby. He returned to Owenton upon graduation to become a partner in Morgan and Thomas Pharmacy and attended to his community until 2012. He loved his many customers and devoted employees. Additionally, he served on the Owenton City Council from 1976 - 2016; was Chairman of Three Rivers Health District from 1975 - 2015; served on the Owen County Parks and Recreation Board and served on the Peoples Bank and Trust Board of Directors from 1978 until currently. Working for the citizens of Owen County was a passion for him. Along with serving in these capacities, he was a devout member of the Owenton First Baptist Church where he was Deacon Emeritus. He was extremely considerate and helped others at every opportunity. Bobby enjoyed his time with his family and always looked forward to their yearly vacations. His other hobbies included hunting, travel, and watching his beloved Cats play basketball. In addition to being survived by his wife, Shirley, Bobby is survived by his three daughters, Marianne Stork (Mike), Kay Bush (Bentley), Holly Bellomy, and one son, Tom Walker (Kristine); twelve grandchildren, Spencer, John, and Adam Stork, Tyler, Ethan and Seth Bush, Lucy Ritter (Perry), Emma Bellomy, Morgan, Piper, Maddi and Lailani Walker. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 1pm. Graveside services will follow with Bro. Brad Banks presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to St, Jude's Children's Hospital; Tanner Duke Memorial Scholarship or Owenton First Baptist.
