Robert Lee Risch

October 1, 1955 — June 14, 2026

Owenton

Robert “Bob” Lee Risch, age 70, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, at his home.

Born October 1, 1955, in Ft. Thomas, KY, he was the son of the late Albert Peter Risch, II and Mary Lou Downs Risch. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 47 years, Teresa Baker Risch; granddaughters, Zoe Marie Hodges and Mattie Rae Hodges; and siblings, Jay Risch and Rena McDannold.

Bob was christened and raised in the Catholic faith at Mother of God Church in Covington. He attended Holmes High School, where he was a standout basketball player known as “Boom Boom Bobby”. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army and went on to become quite the entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses with his wife: Risch’s Guns and Archery, Risch’s Deer Processing, Risch’s Fruit Stand, a 3D Archery Range, and Catfish Heaven Paylake. He was also a concealed carry instructor. He was deeply devoted to his community, serving on the Volunteer Fire Department, Owen County Search & Rescue, and as an Owen County Constable. Bob also worked for the Owen County Schools as a bus driver, operated the Elk Lake Marina, and coached Little League and High School Football for over 30 years. He also ran the softball field and league at the fairgrounds for 15 years, where he was the heart and soul behind bringing back Co-Ed and church softball teams to the community. Together with his wife, they took in and fostered hundreds of children over 18 years. There were always extra kids in his home, some related, and they made sure they were all loved and cared for.

To his family and friends, Bob was the ultimate protector and a deeply loving father who filled life with joy and celebration. During his years working on the railroad, he would come home carrying brown paper bags of candy, entirely convincing his four children that there was a magical "Train Store" on board just for them. He brought that same magic to the front yard, spending endless summer days playing baseball with his kids and the neighborhood flock until the grass wore away into a dirt diamond. His favorite times were the huge, legendary fish fries he hosted every summer leading into the fall. Family and friends would gather from near and far to fill the yard, listening to music, playing ball, and enjoying each other's company while Bob fried fish in his massive cast-iron pots. He took great pride in making sure everyone had a seat at his table, a plate of food, and felt like family.

Bob was loved and will be missed by his children, Robert "Bobby" Lee Risch, II, Tamara Dawn (Tim) Morris, Scott Matthew (Heather) Risch, Sarah Marie (Marvin) Goodrich, Russell Dale Carrington-Risch, Brooklynn Kaylee Hamilton-Risch, and Keith Allen Hamilton-Risch; his grandchildren, Robert Lee Risch, III, Timmy Lee Morris, II, Brooklyn Dawn Morris, Isabella Grace Morris, Adon Layne Morris, Neal Matthew Morris, Xavier Jayce Morris, Hallie Morgan Risch, Makenzie Lauren Risch, Lacie Claire Risch, and Jazmyne Quinn Hodges; his great-grandchild, Paisley Ray Morris; his siblings, Linda Schadler, Albert Peter Risch, III, Millie Banks, Sherry Gillispie, and Natasha Pacey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
