Ricky R Fitzgerald

Ricky Ray Fitzgerald, age 75 of Owenton passed away on November 13th, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Born on June 14th, 1950. He was the son of the late Billy Starmount Fitzgerald and Gladys Criswell Fitzgerald of Owenton. Along with his parents, he was also proceeded in death by his brothers Larry and Franky Fitzgerald.

Ricky held a deep and enduring passion for agriculture, particularly cattle farming. He began hauling cattle at the age of 12 and dedicated his life to maintaining his herd and his farm, remaining active in farming until his passing. He was a familiar face at The United Producers Stockyard in Owenton, where he could be found every Wednesday seated on the back row, his weekly tradition for many years.

Ricky leaves behind a large family who will miss him more than words can ever say. He was proud of his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He had a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor. If he loved you, he showed it by picking on you, teasing you, making you laugh or by making you mad. That was just his way. His presence, his jokes, and his steady love will be missed every day, but the memories he gave us will stay with us forever.

He is survived by his children Gayla (Eric) Lewis, Joy (Charlie) Colligan, Nathan (Melissa) Fitzgerald, and Mariah (James) Keith. 12 Grandchildren Audrey (Nate) Farrar, Brandon (Trinity) Lewis, Cody (Joelle), Ellie, Anderson, Josie Colligan, Cameron, Lily, Toby, Betsy Fitzgerald, Raylan, Ruth and Ripp Keith. 3 great grandchildren, Devaney and Dean Farrar and Lainey Lindsey. 4 siblings Melody (Tommy) Lyons, Charity Lowrance, Scotty and Derek Fitzgerald.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of his life on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the West Seminary location of New Funeral Homes in Owenton, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM.

He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 19th, at his beloved farm. Those wishing to join the procession are asked to meet at 10:00 AM at the West Seminary location.

Memorial contributions may be made to Owen County Christian Preschool or Monterey Baptist Church in his name.
