Richard Coleman Miller

Richard Coleman Miller, age 74, of Owenton, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Bluegrass Care Center in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky.Born January 17, 1943, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Richard Coleman "Colie" Miller and Maggie Carter Miller. Richard was a lifelong tobacco farmer and a former machinist at Bendix in Frankfort.  He served his country in the National Guard and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He was also an avid collector, enjoying coins, marbles, arrowheads and stamps.He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn "Mickey" Barbour Miller; his sons, Mint (Katelyn) Miller and John (Emily) Miller.  Also surviving are his five grandchildren, David, Chevelle, Branson, Daniel and Leah as well as his brother, Melvin Miller.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday, April 22, 2017, from Noon to 1 pm.  A memorial service will follow at 1 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators (formerly Hospice of the Bluegrass), 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort KY, 40601
