Monterey – Richard Thomas Kemper, 94, of Monterey, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born October 20, 1914, in his family’s log home on Pond Branch, he was the son of the late Gayle Kemper and Irene Thomas Kemper Smither. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reva Rae Williams Kemper. He was a graduate of the Monterey High School. Richard was a Greyhound bus driver, retiring after 38 years of service in 1972 to farm. He was also a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church and the Owen Masonic Lodge #123 F & AM. Richard is survived by his son, Gerald Kemper of Monterey and a host of friends. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes in Owenton. Visitation will be held at the Main Street location on Saturday, March 7th, from 10am until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm. with Dr. Robert Childs officiating. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
