Rev. Robert E. Childs

Rev. Robert E. Childs, 56, of New Liberty, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born September 24, 1954, in Louisville he was the son of the late Jonathan Warren Childs and Otha Lee “Bessie” Turner Childs. He was also preceded in death by his sister. Rev. Childs Graduated from the University of Tennessee attended the University of Louisville and was a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Simmons Bible College. He was the minister at New Liberty Second Baptist Church where he recently celebrated his 25th Anniversary as pastor. Additionally, he was the Superintendent of Missions for the General Association of the Baptist in KY. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on February 2, 1997, Charlotte “Penny” Bond Childs; his step-sons, Jeremy R. Solomon of Newport and Joshua E. Solomon of New Liberty; his brother Jonathan Warren Childs of New Liberty; and his granddaughter Aaliyah Claire Solomon. Purcell & Sons Funeral Homes in Elizabethtown are now in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the St. Stephens Church in Louisville on Thursday, October 28, 2010 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm. Family will also receive friends at the New Liberty Second Baptist Church on Friday, October 29th, 2010 from 11am until he time of the service at 2pm. Burial will be in the New Liberty Second Baptist Church Cemetery.
