Retta Lusby Hollins

Retta Hollins, age 95 and a resident of Owenton, passed away March 20th, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born December 23, 1915, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late William David Lusby, Sr. and Hallie B. Wilhoite Lusby. Her husband, Francis Stewart Hollins; her brothers, Acton, Herschel and William David Lusby and her sisters, Hazel Lusby Bradley and Marie Lusby Morrow, also preceded her. Mrs. Hollins was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She also worked previously at Woolworths, Gibson Greeting Cards and Burdines. Surviving are her stepsons, Francis Stewart Hollins, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM and Gary Hollins of Florida; her sister, Doris Dey Lusby Bourne of Owenton; two step grandchildren; five nieces; two nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23rd, from 5 until 8pm at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Funeral servcies will begin Thursday at 10am and will be held at the funeral home. Rev. Jesse Bourne will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cedar Hill Baptist Church or The Owenton Manor Activity Fund.
